2GLF 89.3FM AGM: Your Community Voice – Why You Should Join Our Radio Family
Today, I had the privilege of attending the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2GLF our beloved local radio station, 2GLF 89.3FM. As I sat among fellow community members and dedicated volunteers, I was reminded of the incredible spirit that pulses through the veins of this station and the vital role it plays in our Liverpool-Fairfield area
The Power of Community Radio:
2GLF, broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, is more than just a radio station – it’s the voice of our community. In an era of global media conglomerates and algorithm-driven content, the importance of a truly local radio station cannot be overstated. 2GLF provides us with local news, information, and music that reflects the unique character and diversity of our area.
Community Spirit in Action:
What struck me most during the AGM was the palpable sense of community spirit. The station, run by dedicated volunteers, exemplifies the power of collective effort. From the board members to the on-air presenters, each person contributes their time and talents to keep our local voices heard.
Voice of Slovenian Australians
As we discussed the achievements of the past year and plans for the future, it was clear that 2GLF is not just about broadcasting – it’s about building connections, fostering local talent, and preserving our community’s stories.
Congratualations to Our New Board
2GLF has great pleasure in introducing your board as confirmed in the meeting today:

Mr Phillip Savell | Director |
Mrs Colleen Sparrow | Director |
Mr Joe Zappia | Director |
Adapting to Challenges:
The past few years have been challenging for many community organizations, and 2GLF is no exception. However, the station’s resilience shone through in the AGM discussions. Despite the obstacles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and returning to more LIVE content, 2GLF continued to serve the community, adapting its programming and finding new ways to connect with listeners.
One exciting development shared at the AGM was the committment of members to serve on committees that focus on specific station functions including fundraising, events and critcally important to the station, proposed programming.
The programming committee is to be headed by our very own Phil Sevill who also produces three sensational programs on station including Flying High, One Hit Wonders and the Full Ham Sammich 2.0
The Critical Importance of Local Radio:
Attending the AGM reinforced my belief in the critical importance of local radio stations like 2GLF. In a world where global news often overshadows local concerns, 2GLF ensures that our community’s issues, achievements, and culture remain at the forefront.
Local radio:
Provides a platform for community voices
Offers hyperlocal news and information
Supports local artists and musicians
Connects community members, especially during challenging times
Preserves and promotes local culture and heritage
As I left the AGM, I felt a renewed appreciation for 2GLF and a stronger commitment to supporting our local radio station.
