What are the Australia Day Awards?
The Australia Day Awards are an annual celebration of local citizens and groups who have made outstanding contributions to our community. Provided by the National Australia Day Council and administered by local councils across Australia, these awards are our way of saying “thank you” to those who make Liverpool a better place to live, work, and play.
Award Categories
This year, we’re honoring excellence across eight diverse categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Fraser Environment Award
- Sports Award
- Health Award
- Senior Citizen Award
- Small Business Award
- Cultural and Arts Award
Whether it’s a dedicated environmentalist, a promising young leader, or a small business that’s making waves, there’s a category to recognize every type of community champion!
How to Nominate
Do you know someone who deserves recognition? Here’s what you need to know:
- Nominations must be submitted on the Council’s official nomination form.
- Nominees cannot nominate themselves.
- The deadline for nominations is 4:30 PM, Friday, October 11, 2024.
- Include the name and contact number of one independent referee who can vouch for the nominee’s contributions.
Eligibility and Category-Specific Criteria
Each award category has specific eligibility requirements. For example:
- Citizen of the Year: Australian citizens, 24 years or older, who live, work, or study in Liverpool.
- Young Citizen of the Year: Australian citizens, 23 years or younger, who live, work, or study in Liverpool.
- Small Business Award: For businesses with 20 or fewer employees that have significantly contributed to the local economy and community.
